Job summary

Jabil is seeking a BIOS Developer in Austin, TX to lead BIOS/UEFI development and platform integration across complex hardware programs. You will own firmware features, drive debugging, and optimize performance for validation, manufacturing, and customer delivery.

Requirements include 5–10 years in BIOS/UEFI or embedded firmware and a bachelor’s in a related field (master’s preferred); strong skills in firmware architecture, system initialization, debugging, and cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of BIOS/UEFI/embedded firmware or low-level platform software development experience.
• Strong expertise in firmware architecture, BIOS bring-up, and initialization processes.

• Lead BIOS/UEFI firmware development, subsystem enablement, and integration across platforms.
• Define implementation approach for BIOS features aligned to platform architecture and release plans.
• Drive investigation and resolution of complex firmware and system issues during bring-up, validation, or customer escalation.
• Lead BIOS validation readiness, tuning, and optimization to improve stability and performance.
• Collaborate with Electrical, BMC, Systems, Validation, and other teams to resolve cross-domain issues.

Job Summary

The BIOS Developer is responsible for leading BIOS/UEFI development and platform integration activities across complex hardware programs. This role provides technical ownership for firmware features, drives debug and performance optimization, and ensures BIOS readiness for validation, manufacturing, and customer delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead BIOS/UEFI firmware development, subsystem enablement, and integration activities across one or more product platforms.
• Define implementation approach for BIOS features and ensure alignment to platform architecture, system requirements, and release plans.
• Drive investigation and resolution of complex firmware and system issues discovered during bring-up, validation, or customer escalation.
• Lead BIOS validation readiness, tuning, and optimization activities to improve platform stability, functionality, and performance.
• Partner with Electrical, BMC, Systems, Validation, and other engineering teams to resolve cross-domain issues and align release decisions.
• Guide firmware quality practices including issue tracking, regression coverage, code review support, and release discipline.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to standard methods, reusable code approaches, and technical capability building within the firmware team.
• Provide clear communication of technical direction, tradeoffs, milestone health, and open risks to leadership and key stakeholders.

Job Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in BIOS, UEFI, embedded firmware, or low-level platform software development.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong expertise in firmware architecture, BIOS bring-up, platform initialization, and issue debugging.
• Experience with server, storage, networking, or x86-based compute platforms is required.
• Ability to lead cross-functional technical issue resolution involving firmware, hardware, and validation teams.
• Strong coding, debug, and technical communication capability.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead technical execution with limited oversight.
