Job summary

RiseMe is seeking a Lead Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) to oversee maintenance, calibration, and lifecycle management of medical equipment. You will lead a team, coordinate with clinical staff, and drive proactive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure patient safety.

The role requires a strong background in biomedical engineering or electronics, 5+ years in equipment maintenance, and CBET is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, electronics, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair, with leadership experience preferred.
• CBET certification is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of medical equipment, electrical safety, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and equipment specifications.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, testing instruments, and CMMS software.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and calibration of biomedical equipment in accordance with OEM specifications, departmental procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct equipment inspections, electrical safety testing, and performance verification to ensure devices are safe, reliable, and ready for patient use.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of service activities, repairs, parts usage, and inventory within the CMMS; ensure data integrity that supports compliance and operational reporting.
• Support acquisition, installation, acceptance testing, and integration of new medical devices, ensuring proper configuration and user readiness.
• Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and operations teams to identify equipment issues, prioritize repairs, and provide guidance on safe and effective device use.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission (TJC), NFPA 99, OSHA, CMS, and FDA requirements.
• Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and warranty claims, ensuring timely resolution of service needs and cost-effective support.
• Stay current on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, applying new knowledge to improve equipment reliability and program performance.

This role provides technical leadership, customer account management, and expert guidance to ensure all devices operate safely, reliably, and in full compliance with regulatory standards.

The Lead BMET partners closely with clinical teams to support high-quality patient care, reduces equipment downtime through proactive planning, and drives operational efficiency by maintaining a strong preventive maintenance program. This position supports vendor coordination and ensures consistent documentation and adherence to healthcare technology management best practices.

Education, Experience and Skill Required

• Associate or bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair, with leadership experience preferred.
• Certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of medical equipment, electrical safety, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and equipment specifications.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, testing instruments, and CMMS software.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment and respond to urgent repair needs.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks associated with equipment service.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Working Conditions:

Generally good working conditions. Possible hazards include exposure to electrical shock, ionizing radiation, chemicals and chemical fumes, high-pressure air, infectious disease, and various other hazards associated with biomedical engineering work. Protective clothing and safe work practices are required.
