Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Lead of the Clinical Data Factory to support MUSC’s AI development workflows. This role ensures PI/PHI‑compliant synthetic data pipelines, model‑training readiness, system stability, and data availability by collaborating with IS architecture to prepare the data ecosystem for rapid experimentation.

You will lead a team of data engineers and architects, drive governance and data quality, and coordinate with security and enterprise teams to maintain

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience with some leadership exposure.
• Experience in data engineering, synthetic data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, or regulated healthcare data systems.
• Familiarity with PI/PHI handling, HIPAA, or regulated data architectures preferred.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers/architects and coordinate technical backlog or system maintenance cycles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage Synthetic Data Pipeline activities ensuring PI/PHI compliance and data quality.
• Oversee System Architecture, maintenance, and enhancements for AI Center tools and data infrastructure.
• Provide team leadership and technical guidance to Jr. Data Engineers and Jr. Architects.
• Collaborate with AI Project Teams to meet data provisioning and model experimentation needs.
• Support governance, quality, and model integrity practices in line with IS Guidance and Policy.
