Ladders seeks a Lead Bioinformatics Scientist - Sample to Answer to join our healthcare client team. This role will lead advanced bioinformatics efforts that support assay development, genomic analysis, and data-driven decision-making within a clinical laboratory environment.

You will design scalable sequencing pipelines, apply statistical methods, and collaborate with R&D to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, or computer science.
  • 5+ years programming in bioinformatics languages and tools.
  • Experience with high-throughput sequencing data and HPC/cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with R&D to develop new assays and technologies.
  • Analyze genomic, transcriptomic, or proteomic datasets with bioinformatics tools.
  • Perform statistical analyses on data from clinical testing instruments.
  • Conduct data mining to identify valuable insights for decisions.
  • Provide analysis to management for decision making regarding lab tests.
  • Develop statistical classifiers and integrate bioinformatics algorithms.
  • Architect and optimize Nextflow pipelines for whole-genome sequencing.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Lead Bioinformatics Scientist - Sample to Answer to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space.

This role will lead advanced bioinformatics efforts that support assay development, genomic analysis, and data-driven decision-making within a clinical laboratory environment. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with R&D scientists and management to translate complex biological data into actionable insights. This position also owns the design and optimization of scalable sequencing pipelines and statistical methods that help improve laboratory testing solutions.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $120,000 – $150,000 annually

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists to develop new assays and technologies
  • Analyze genomic, transcriptomic, or proteomic datasets using advanced bioinformatics tools
  • Perform statistical analyses on data from clinical testing instruments
  • Conduct data mining on various datasets to identify valuable insights
  • Provide analysis to management for decision making regarding lab tests
  • Develop statistical classifiers and integrate bioinformatics algorithms into solutions
  • Architect and optimize Nextflow pipelines for whole-genome sequencing
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, or computer science
  • 3+ years of experience in biotechnology
  • 5+ years of experience programming in bioinformatics languages: Python, R, Perl, Java
  • 5+ years of experience with high-throughput sequencing data and bioinformatics tools such as BLAST, GATK, and Bowtie
  • 5+ years of experience in Linux/Unix environments and high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud platforms
