Role Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on Senior BI Engineer to support a large-scale Retail Store Analytics engagement for one of the most recognized global technology brands in the world. In this role, you will own the dashboard development, design, and maintenance standards for the client's analytics ecosystem, creating and curating reusable design components for custom web applications and Tableau dashboards, including Tableau visualization extensions and the curation of client brand assets.

You will work closely with business teams to understand requirements, design intuitive visualizations, and deliver production-quality BI solutions using Tableau, ThoughtSpot, and Plotly. You will be the design voice within a blended delivery team, working day-to-day alongside the client's analytics and BI stakeholders and approximately 15 Fractal BI engineers and full-stack developers. Your work will directly shape a program that consolidates over 80 dashboards into a single, coherent reporting hub with consistent architecture, interaction patterns, and visual identity, while elevating the usability and self-service experience of the client's data products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop dashboards and reports in Tableau, ThoughtSpot, and Plotly
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and data models
  • Work with analytics engineers on data modeling and dimension table design
  • Implement dbt data quality tests and ensure data used in dashboards is accurate
  • Centralize and standardize ~80 dashboards into a single hub with consistent architecture
  • Create comprehensive documentation for all dashboards including lineage and refresh schedules
  • Manage access control and resolve dashboard permission issues promptly
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and custom dashboard development for stakeholder requests
  • Optimize dashboard performance and query efficiency
  • Stay current with BI tool features and recommend improvements
  • Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on data visualization best practices
  • Train stakeholders on self-service analytics capabilities
Required Experience:
  • 6-10 years of BI/Analytics engineering experience
  • 4+ years developing dashboards in Tableau or similar BI tools
  • 3+ years with SQL and data warehouse concepts
  • 2+ years working with business stakeholders and requirements gathering
Technical Skills:
  • Expert-level proficiency in Tableau (or equivalent BI tool)
  • Advanced SQL: complex queries, window functions, performance optimization
  • Experience with dbt (data transformation and testing)
  • Knowledge of Snowflake and data warehouse architectures
  • Familiarity with Plotly and ThoughtSpot (or similar analytics platforms)
  • Understanding of data governance and security best practices
Soft Skills:
  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Design thinking mindset with focus on user experience
  • Attention to detail and quality assurance
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholder requests and prioritize effectively
  • Collaborative team player with willingness to mentor junior team members
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
  • Master's degree or relevant certifications preferred
