What You'll Do
As a Lead Belt Fabricator, you'll play a key role in supporting production operations while providing guidance and leadership to Belt Technicians. This position combines technical expertise, mentoring, and hands-on fabrication responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, repair, and fabricate conveyor belts and conveyor system components.
- Install and vulcanize both lightweight and heavyweight conveyor belting.
- Lead daily production activities and assist in setting priorities for the team.
- Train, coach, and support Belt Technicians to ensure quality workmanship and safety.
- Research and develop improved fabrication techniques and processes.
- Evaluate field installations and service work as needed.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and supplies.
- Maintain inventory and stock areas according to company standards.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and specifications.
- Pick up and deliver orders, stock, and materials when necessary.
- Ensure equipment, tools, and workspaces are maintained safely and efficiently.
- Identify and report defective equipment, materials, or unsafe conditions.
- Serve as a role model for professional conduct, quality workmanship, and safety practices.
- Provide support to the Belt Shop Manager and fill in as needed.
- Consistently represent Belt Power professionally with customers and coworkers.
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Requirements
- Previous leadership experience such as Lead Technician, Crew Leader, Team Lead, or similar role.
- Experience with conveyor belt fabrication and repair.
- Field service or installation experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and engineered drawings.
- Ability to accurately measure and verify dimensions using a tape measure.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces when necessary.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as business needs require.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
