Job summary

York Space Systems in Austin, TX is seeking a Battle Management Software Lead to guide a cross-functional team developing mission software for advanced simulation and real-time decision support.

You will provide technical leadership, architecture direction, and ensure high quality, scalable software across frontend, embedded, and cloud components, with opportunities to advance AI-driven workflows and mission operations.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering with frontend/web focus.
• 2+ years in technical leadership or people management in agile.
• Experience writing test documentation and test plans.
• Experience in Linux environments.
• Experience with messaging frameworks and APIs in distributed systems.
• Experience with Git in collaborative environments.
• Mentorship and code-quality driving ability.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, design, and operations.
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
• Active security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers to build agentic software.
• Guide architecture and design decisions for scalable systems.
• Oversee requirements, interfaces, and design reviews.
• Translate designs into high-quality, maintainable software.
• Contribute to verification, validation plans and testing.
• Lead agile ceremonies and ensure on-time delivery of releases.
• Communicate plans and progress to upper management.
• Foster ownership, accountability, and technical excellence.
