Job description

The Silver Crown is looking for an exceptional, hands on leader to run our coffee program. You won’t be micromanaged; instead you’ll have the freedom to build a menu and operations that you’ll be proud of. You’ll have a real seat at the leadership table, helping to meaningfully chart our course.

Who you are:

  • You’re passionate about coffee. Pour over, espresso, all of it. You cringe every time you see someone put your perfect pour over coffee into a plastic mug…
  • You’re opinionated about the coffee beans you use, you know the difference between city roast and medium roast, and which you prefer.
  • You’re a wizard with espresso. You understand pressure and temperature and duration and grind, and everything else you can tweak to avoid over extraction.
  • The details matter to you. Every cup needs to be exceptional.
  • You’re observant, and truly care about service. You know that uncomfortable moment when your order is taking too long, and you have to flag down the barista to see if your order was missed? Yah…you hate that, and you’ll make sure our customers don’t have that experience.
  • You respect your staff, because you know without them, you can’t be successful.
  • You’re kind and friendly towards both your customers and your co-workers.
  • Able to work physically behind the bar, sometimes for long shifts.
  • You appreciate being respected and trusted, and understand the responsibility that comes along with that.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the coffee program. Drive the menu, help with bean selection, and demand exceptional coffee from both yourself and your staff.
  • Help manage your staff: hiring, training, scheduling, the works.
  • Help manage inventory. Receiving, ordering, physical inventories, ensuring ingredient availability, and minimizing loss.
  • Brew! You’re the sort who is as excited to be hands on as you are to lead.
  • Work alongside ownership, who will also be around full time. …I know, but don’t worry. They’re humble, friendly, respectful, and know when to lead vs get out of the way.

What you’ve done:

  • 5+ years of experience as a hands-on barista
  • 2+ years in leadership roles as a lead barista, with experience in managing staff, inventory, and customer service
