Job summary

Embassy Suites by Hilton Berkeley Heights, NJ is seeking a Lead Barista to support the Starbucks Manager with staff training and development. You will perform duties across the department, handle cash, and step in as Store Manager when required, using your knowledge of MICROS POS and coffee operations.

The role emphasizes exceptional guest service, flexibility for early shifts, weekends, and holidays, and a strong focus on food safety and team collaboration within a Hilton-branded hotel

Qualifications

• Supervisory/lead trainer experience preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Experience with MICROS POS or similar POS platforms.
• ServeSafe certification preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including early AM shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Previous experience as a Barista or in a similar role preferred.
• Knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and equipment.
• Familiarity with various coffee beans and blends helpful.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new recipes and techniques.
• Prior cash handling experience.

Overview

The Lead Barista assists the Starbucks Manager with training and development of staff. Performs duties of all positions within the department. Resolves employee and guest-related problems. Uses proper cash handling and accounting procedures. Acts as a Store Manager when required. Must possess working knowledge of computer terminal and cash register operations.

Qualifications

• Prior Starbucks supervisory/Lead trainer experience preferred
