Job summary

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Commercial Connect API team in Dublin on a hybrid arrangement, three days onsite. You will lead Java microservice development, collaborate across product, TPM, and test teams, and drive secure, scalable solutions for high-traffic B2B payments platforms.

Strong cloud and AI-assisted development experience is required. Ideal candidates bring extensive backend Java/Spring Boot expertise, microservices design skills, and solid SQL knowledge

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as backend software engineer in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Designing secure, scalable microservices handling high traffic with RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with CI/CD, containerization, DevOps practices, and version control.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of Java microservices.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, TPMs, and test engineers to align goals.
• Perform code reviews, pull requests, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to engineering best practices and security standards.
• Optimize performance and reliability for large-scale systems.
