Job summary

Ontrac Solutions seeks a Lead Software Engineer (Backend / Integrations) to anchor the backend workstream for a state government licensing and regulatory platform on Google Cloud. This hands-on technical leader owns core service architecture, sets backend engineering standards, and codes alongside the team from design through delivery.

The role collaborates with the client tech lead, frontend/mobile engineers, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery, with an expected start date of 5

Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot

Responsibilities

• Own the backend architecture: service boundaries, data model, event contracts, and the integration layer design
• Design and implement Java 21 / Spring Boot microservices on Cloud Run
• Implement PostgreSQL (AlloyDB) persistence with high data integrity and indexing
• Build asynchronous event flows on Pub/Sub and Eventarc
• Oversee external integrations via REST, SOAP, SFTP, and webhooks
• Mentor engineers and guide onboarding of contractors
