Job summary

Leidos Defense, Integration and Test Team in Huntsville, AL seeks an Avionics Test Team Lead to direct verification activities for complex defense systems. You will craft and run test plans, coordinate resources, and deliver validation reports across multiple events with OEMs and manufacturing partners.

The role requires hands-on hardware/software testing experience, strong collaboration with customers, and readiness to travel for events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or equivalent ABET degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or MS with 6+ years.
• Experience with defense or commercial test practices and processes.
• Experience developing and executing hardware or software test plans and procedures.
• Hands-on experience with hardware, software, or system integration and testing.
• Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville area.
• US Citizenship and active secret clearance.
• Ability to work outdoors and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Travel for test events (approximately 4 weeks per year).

Leidos Defense, Integration and Test Team, is seeking an Avionics Test Team Lead. We are a diverse team that works to implement unique solutions for complex problems in the defense sector, including but not limited to kinetic and directed energy defensive and offensive platforms as well as RADAR and other surveillance and sensor technologies. Our team works across multiple business sectors, with industry partners, and directly with the customer. Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 8+ years of prior relevant experience or an MS with 6+ years.
• Candidates must have knowledge of and experience with defense or commercial test engineering practices and processes.
• Candidates must have experience developing and executing hardware or software test plans and procedures.
• Candidates must have direct, hands‑on experience with hardware, software, or system integration, troubleshooting, and testing.
• Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
• US Citizenship is required and active secret clearance.
• The position may require working outside in all weather conditions and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• The position may require minimal travel for test events (approximately 4 weeks a year).

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 8 years of experience with test planning and execution.
• Working knowledge and operation of electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, voltmeter, signal analyzer/generator)
• Working knowledge of software languages Python, C, C++, C# and or firmware languages for Xilinx or Altera devices
• Experience with Linux, Matlab, Labview, and WireShark
• Experience preparing and presenting briefings and/or demonstrations to customers and management
• Planning and executing demonstration tests and US Gov't test ranges/facilities

Pay Range

Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
