Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer for Starship Avionics in Starbase, TX. You will own design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical systems to protect electronics in harsh launch environments.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering/related field and 3+ years designing mechanical components with GD&T, FEA, and CAD. Leadership experience is preferred, and comfort with demanding, autonomous work is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or math required.
• 3+ years of professional experience designing mechanical components or assemblies.
• Experience leading teams is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own avionics mechanical design, analysis, and manufacturability for Starship avionics.
• Drive design architecture trades and first order sizing.
• Develop requirements and optimize for speed, mass, and cost.
• Perform first principles analysis and FEA to optimize designs.
• Support production issues and improve designs for rapid manufacturability.
• Lead development, acceptance, and qualification testing.
• Collaborate with analysts and manufacturing on thermal, vibration, and loads.
