Job summary

Castelion Corporation is seeking a Lead Avionics Engineer to define and deliver the avionics architecture for our long-range hypersonic vehicle programs. You will integrate power, control electronics, sensors, and flight software to create a cohesive flight system, working hands-on with multidisciplinary teams from concept through flight test.

This role requires 8+ years in avionics or high-reliability embedded aerospace systems, strong architecture knowledge, and hands-on PCB design with Altium

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing and integrating avionics or high-reliability embedded systems in aerospace/defense.
• Experience leading development from concept through flight testing.
• Strong background in avionics architecture and interfaces.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design.
• Familiarity with aerospace interfaces and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain avionics system architecture for flight vehicles.
• Lead integration of subsystems: flight computers, sensors, power electronics.
• Develop system-level requirements, interfaces, and wiring definitions.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, GNC, and propulsion teams.
• Lead hardware integration, bring-up, debugging during development and flight tests.
• Define design standards and best practices for high-reliability flight electronics.
• Support design reviews and trades to optimize performance and manufacturability.
• Develop integration and flight test plans; translate results to improvements.
• Mentor engineers across disciplines and share avionics best practices.
• Partner with program leadership on technical trades aligned to mission.
