Job summary

Global Connect Technologies in Irvine, CA seeks an experienced Exterior Lighting Design Engineer to design and develop automotive exterior lighting systems, including headlamps and tail lamps, following global regulations.

You will work with CATIA V5/V6, manage drawings and BOM, and support DFMEA/DVP processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams from concept to production.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in automotive exterior lighting design and development.
• Experience with CATIA V5/V6 for 3D modeling and drawings.
• Knowledge of global lighting regulations and homologation standards.
• Experience in product development from concept to production.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, DVP, QFD, BOM processes.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive exterior lighting systems, including headlamps and tail lamps.
• Understand regulatory requirements, homologation standards, light sources, reflector designs, optics, venting, sealing and condensation management.
• Develop lighting components considering mounting strategies, GD&T, craftsmanship, robustness, quality and performance.
• Support engineering projects from kickoff through implementation, including QFD, benchmarking, feature analysis and design development.
• Prepare and release engineering drawings, 3D models and product documentation.
• Support CAE analysis, physical validation and lighting testing.
