Job summary

IQVIA in Bangalore (Hybrid) is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to own web, API, and database test automation across stacks. You will architect scalable frameworks, lead automation initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an enterprise setting.

You will drive test design, execution, and defect analysis, mentor junior engineers, and align automation with CI/CD and quality goals within an Agile/Scrum environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years hands-on automation testing experience.
• Senior/Lead Automation Engineer role in enterprise systems.
• Strong Java and OOP knowledge.
• Experience with Selenium, Playwright, Rest Assured.
• Frameworks like TestNG, Cucumber, JUnit.
• Automating web, API, and database apps across browsers.
• Advanced SQL with Snowflake/Redshift/Oracle/Databricks.
• Solid QA methods and SDLC/STLC knowledge.
• Git and CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
• Analytical, debugging, problem-solving, communication.
• Ability to lead automation initiatives and mentor juniors.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum and test planning.
• Knowledge of performance testing is a plus.
• ISTQB/CSTE/CSQA certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Bachelor?s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 7+ years of hands?on experience in Automation Testing.

• Proven experience working as a Senior/Lead Automation Engineer or equivalent role in enterprise?scale applications.

• Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Java with solid understanding of OOP concepts.

• Extensive hands?on experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Rest Assured or similar.

• Strong experience in developing automation frameworks like testNG , Cucumber ,Junit ,etc.,

• Experience automating web, API, database applications across multiple platforms and browsers.

• Strong expertise in writing complex SQL queries and working with databases such as Snowflake, Redshift, Oracle, databricks, or SQL?based systems.

• Excellent understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC/STLC, test design techniques, and QA best practices.

• Experience working with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).

• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem?solving skills with attention to detail.

• Candidate should be a strong individual contributor with the ability to independently drive automation initiatives and lead automation team

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross?functional teams.

• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments with exposure to test planning and estimation.

• Knowledge of performance testing tools and concepts is an added advantage.

• ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA, or other relevant testing/automation certifications are a strong plus.

• Architect, design, and implement scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks using industry?standard tools, libraries, and best practices.

• Lead the development of automation strategies aligned with business requirements, CI/CD pipelines, and overall quality goals.

• Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, and QA teams to analyze requirements, identify test scenarios, and ensure comprehensive test coverage.

• Execute automated test scripts, analyze results, log defects with detailed root?cause analysis, and track issues to resolution.

• Optimize automation scripts for performance, reliability, reusability, and reduced execution time.

• Identify gaps in test coverage and proactively suggest improvements in automation approach, test data management, and testing processes. Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior QA engineers on automation frameworks, coding standards, and testing best practices.

• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand?ups, retrospectives, and release planning.

• Conduct code and test automation reviews to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices.

• Work closely with DevOps teams to maintain test environments and improve deployment and testing efficiency.

• Evaluate, recommend, and drive adoption of new tools, technologies, and methodologies to continuously improve test automation capabilities.

• Ensure quality metrics, automation coverage reports, and test execution results are communicated effectively to stakeholders.

• Contribute to defining and enhancing the overall QA strategy, test governance, and quality roadmap for the organization.
