Job summary

SBA Group's North Carolina facility in Davie County seeks an Automation Technician to ensure reliability, safety, and efficiency of maintenance on highly automated furniture production lines. You will oversee electrical equipment maintenance and guide a team of Automation Electricians.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Engineering and 3+ years of manufacturing automation experience, familiarity with PLCs, servo drives, CMMS/SAP, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement and safety.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronics or related field preferred).
3+ years of Automation technical experience in manufacturing (woodworking industry preferred).
Experience maintaining automated production equipment (HOMAG, BÜRKLE or similar) is a plus.
Strong knowledge of servo-driven systems and PLCs.
Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.
Experience with CMMS or SAP maintenance systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork in a maintenance environment.
Leadership and prioritization of electricians.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on highly automated furniture manufacturing equipment, including electrical control systems, PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, sensors, safety circuits, robotics, conveyors, automated production lines, and other industrial equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, controls, automation, and instrumentation failures to minimize downtime.
Support robotic and automated production cells, including safety systems, sensors, actuators, and networks.
Monitor machine reliability, downtime, and maintenance KPIs; improve availability and OEE.
Execute preventive/predictive maintenance per schedules focusing on electrical and automation systems.
Prepare technical reports and root-cause analyses after significant downtime.
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance to implement improvements.
Ensure OSHA and safety standards are followed; mentor electricians.
