Jabil is looking to hire a Lead Automation Project Engineer.

As a seasoned engineering professional, you will take on a pivotal role as Lead Automation Project Engineer, where your expertise in high-speed assembly automation will shape the future of advanced manufacturing.
In this role, you will lead the full lifecycle of automation projects—from defining technical requirements and developing automation concepts to overseeing installation and ensuring seamless transitions to production. You will also lead equipment quoting processes and create preliminary concepts, layouts, and technical documentation to support strategic decisions.
As a Subject Matter Expert in Assembly Automation, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, influencing part design and ensuring alignment with automation goals. Your insights will drive efficiency, innovation, and reliability across production systems.

What will you do?
- Serve as a subject matter expert in the development of automated assembly and test systems.
- Act as a liaison with customers and facilities for automation development best practices, both virtual and onsite.
- Interact directly with assembly and automation equipment suppliers.
- Specify and purchase equipment, assembly tooling, and fixtures for new and existing processes.
- Lead the development of URS and equipment specifications, including qualification of custom/vendor equipment for production.
- Guide quoting of automation equipment.
- Create and coordinate project teams to achieve project outcomes.
- Ensure automation projects are seamlessly handed over to receiving site teams.
- Support engineering hiring at sites.
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting and continuous improvement of automation systems.
- Identify and coordinate automation training opportunities.
- Research new technologies, automation developments, external suppliers, and manufacturing operations.
- Support escalation processes related to automation issues.
- Assist sites with identifying, defining, and executing downtime, scrap, and OEE improvement projects during ramp-up.
- Collaborate on RFQ's, DFM's, design reviews, product design, and automation equipment design.
- Promote continuous improvement and company values.
- Support other sites via a global Q&A platform.
- Lead troubleshooting, upgrades, retrofits, set-ups, and methods development in manufacturing.
- Support product development meetings and recommend design changes to enhance manufacturing and assembly.
- Apply Lean Six Sigma tools and processes to engineering projects.
- Lead large, complex projects with broad organizational impact.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and safety and quality programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
How will you get here?
Education:
- Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical or Electronics/Electrical Engineering.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years in automation equipment development and installation, or equivalent experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Knowledge of metal welding, including laser and resistance welding.
- Experience in engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of renewable energy and energy storage systems is a plus.
- Expertise in engineering theories, design principles, and evaluation techniques.
- Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and email.
