Job summary

Nike Air Manufacturing & Innovation in Beaverton seeks a Lead Automation Engineer to drive front-end automation strategy for our innovation hub, in a low-volume, high-SKU setting where flexibility, rapid experimentation, and speed to learning are critical.

You will identify automation opportunities, develop roadmaps, lead proof-of-concept work, and build scalable solutions with strong cross-functional collaboration to accelerate product development and manufacturing agility across the Air MI

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• 6+ years in automation, robotics, controls, or related fields.
• Experience leading automation initiatives from concept to pilot.
• Experience in innovation, R&D, prototyping or flexible production environments.
• Ability to build business cases and investment strategies.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
• Knowledge of robotics, material handling automation and machine vision.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the automation strategy and technology roadmap aligned to Nike's innovation objectives.
• Identify and evaluate automation opportunities to accelerate product development and manufacturing flexibility.
• Lead technology scouting and engage external partners for emerging tech.
• Develop and execute proof-of-concept initiatives to validate feasibility and ROI.
• Create business cases and investment recommendations with ROI and scalability.
• Partner with Innovation and Product Development to explore new methods of make and advanced manufacturing tech.
• Own production-intent design development, system architecture, and deployment standards.
• Help standardize and scale technologies into higher-volume environments across Air MI.
