Job summary

Eaton's IS AER FMC division seeks an Automation Controls Engineering Supervisor in Grand Rapids, MI. This full-time, M-F daylight, onsite role includes relocation benefits nationwide.

The position leads automation and test equipment initiatives for electro-mechanical actuators and related components, balancing hands-on work with supervisory duties to ensure robust, compliant production test systems aligned with manufacturing readiness goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science required.
• 5+ years manufacturing experience.
• 3+ years in manufacturing, sustaining, and/or test engineering.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• ITAR: U.S. person required for access to ITAR hardware.

Responsibilities

• Provide controls engineering and automation leadership to improve Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRL) for new and existing products.
• Identify, develop, and implement automation solutions to support new production lines, focusing on process control architecture and reducing manual touch time.
• Evaluate existing production/test automation and provide direction to improve test effectiveness, reliability, throughput, and scalability.
• Provide hands-on test leadership for all production test equipment at the site.
• Manage design, build, and verification of production test equipment through external and internal suppliers for Capital projects.
• Ensure test equipment updates are implemented after Manufacturing Change Orders.
• Promote Continuous Improvement with testing plans and equipment consolidation for a 5-year CAPEX plan.
• Lead Test Engineers/Technicians for troubleshooting, spares, and growth; coach performance.
