This Opportunity

kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP USA company, is searching for a Lead Building Automation and Controls Engineer at one of our U.S. offices (Milwaukee WI, Phoenix AZ, Atlanta GA, Herndon VA, New York City NY, Troy NY, or Chicago IL).

Your Impact
  • Work in a team or independently, planning and executing engineering tasks within projects.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the services provided by the kW MCE engineering teams.
  • Support the team during proposal, design, and construction stages under general supervision.
  • Execute controls design of complex projects.
  • Develop drawings and specification documents for architects, contractors, and building owners.
  • Attend client meetings and contribute to discussions.
  • Collaborate with internal project discipline team members and external equipment vendors and manufacturers.
  • Communicate complex control and monitoring concepts and decisions to clients and stakeholders.
  • Integrate mechanical and electrical engineering requirements into larger facility controls and monitoring designs.
  • Maintain and develop client relationships.
  • Review all controls designs, system reviews, and drawings prior to issuance.
  • Survey and evaluate existing conditions.
  • Review controls contractor and system integrator shop drawings and product details to ensure project delivery meets or exceeds design requirements.
Who You Are

The ideal candidate will possess experience with building type HVAC systems or process control applications from a controls systems vendor, commissioning agent, or design consultant. Candidates should have strong communication skills and an interest in liaising with internal and external design, client, and construction team members.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience designing building automation control systems for commercial, industrial, or mission critical facilities.
  • EIT or Registered Professional Engineer (PE), or the ability to become licensed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with applicable software packages including AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Knowledge of building, mechanical, electrical, and energy codes.
  • Ability to organize and present design information to project staff.
  • Attention to detail, highly organized, self‑starter.
  • Ability to travel to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Mission Critical/Data Center experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with international projects is beneficial.
Compensation and Benefits

Expected Salary: $125,000 - $175,000.
