Qualifications

• Automotive service excellence certification in at least four areas, two of which must be A1 engine repair and A8 engine performance (or T2 diesel engines and T8 PM inspection).
• Ability to lead and train lower-level auto mechanics and inmates.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to safety policies and tool control.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of auto mechanics and inmates, providing direction and training.
• Perform major engine overhauls and repair complex equipment.
• Carry out minor and major vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Assist in diagnosing problems, inspect work, ensure safety and procedures.
• Maintain tool control and chemical handling policies.
• Repair or replace components (electrical, pumps, brakes, etc.).
• Perform preventive maintenance and valve adjustments.
• Handle body work, tires, diesel injectors.
• Provide emergency service and keep repair records.
• Maintain required certifications and keep manuals updated.
• Operate welding equipment and computer data entry.
• Order and stock parts, manage inventories.
