Job summary

Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office seeks a Sergeant to assist with daily functions, supervise law enforcement personnel, and provide protection to citizens of Tarrant County. The role involves supervising the Auto Crimes Task Force, coordinating investigations, and managing grant-related activities to meet operational goals.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, 4+ years in law enforcement with 2+ years in investigations, and Texas Peace Officer Certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Four (4) full-time consecutive years of law enforcement experience with at least two (2) years in criminal investigations.
• Texas Basic Peace Officer Certification (Intermediate preferred) and license in good standing as a Peace Officer in Texas.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
• Ability to interpret court orders, statutes, and policies relevant to duties.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
• Ability to draft official documents including memos, affidavits, reports, and case files.
• Experience in use of defensive tactics and weapons as required.

Responsibilities

• Schedules subordinate personnel and adheres to duty hours.
• Conducts unit briefings and administrative duties.
• Supervises operational activities of assigned personnel.
• Manages grant programs and adherence to grant constraints.
• Monitors caseloads and major investigations; notifies senior managers of major events.
• Ensures compliance with sheriff's office policies and procedures.
• Produces reports and documents for grant reporting and internal use.
• Coordinates regional intelligence-sharing and training.
• Performs duties with physical fitness for job requirements.
• Attends required training and maintains certifications.
