Position Purpose
Responsible for coordinating and completing audit reviews, reviewing audit work papers and reports, distributing reports to management, coordinating auditor assignments, mentoring staff, and assisting in workflow management of risk activities and projects.

Logistics: Palmetto GBA, a subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
Location: Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday-Friday, remote in the U.S. or onsite at 17 Technology Circle, Columbia, SC. Normal hours are 8:00AM-5:00PM, with occasional overtime as needed.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan and execute audits independently according to professional standards.
  • Perform audits focusing on operational controls, asset safeguarding, and compliance.
  • Lead complex audit reviews and cost reports.
  • Review account reconciliations and analyze key processes and controls.
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to management.
  • Document work and conclusions in formal reports.
  • Ensure quality and compliance with standards in all audit work.
  • Manage audit staff and coordinate project completion efficiently.
  • Develop and update work instructions, forms, and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and standards through ongoing education.
  • Coordinate with internal and external parties to complete tasks effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years of auditing or accounting experience, including 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of auditing principles, financial data analysis, and legal/regulatory compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information.
  • Understanding of cost accounting standards and auditing standards.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Medicare cost report auditing and leading audits.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Health Financial Systems.
  • Certifications such as CIA, CPA, or CISA.
