Job summary

Job Summary

CSA Group has an opportunity for a Lead Auditor, based out of any CSA office location in the United States / Canada supporting North America operations. This role will be responsible for assisting with the activities involved in on-site auditing of manufacturers’ quality management systems in support of accreditation to national and international conformity assessment programs for equipment used in an explosive atmosphere.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains assessment and surveillance audit schedules for IECEx and ATEX quality assurance schemes (QAR/QAN) for EN / IEC 80079-34.
  • Maintains assessment and surveillance audit schedules for Management Systems quality assurance, such as ISO 9001.
  • Monitors to ensure the audit completion.
  • Assists in the coordination of audit staff training and accreditations.
  • Facilitates the development of cooperative agreements with other agencies and Notified Bodies.
  • Conducts quality audits as required and prepares final reports.
  • Assists with dispute resolutions with Notified Body partners as required.
  • Assists manufacturers with non-compliant quality management systems to understand the requirements while maintaining auditor impartiality.
  • Completes audit reports in a timely manner.
  • Ability to think and act independently, schedule own work and be proactive.
  • Represent CSA as front line customer contact.
  • Flexible and able to change schedules to meet customer requirements.
Education
  • Post-secondary education (e.g., college degree) preferably in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent manufacturing experience.
  • Completion of recognized Lead Auditor course (40-hour in-class).
  • Experience of working in manufacturing.
  • CAN/CSA-ISO 19011:03 “Guidelines for Quality Management Systems Auditing”.
Experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in Hazardous Locations product approvals or a good understanding of protection concepts.
  • Experience of working in manufacturing environments.
  • Any testing of Hazardous location products is a strong asset.
Skills
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing process is an asset.
  • High degree of verbal and written communication skills.
  • High degree of attentiveness required, particularly during on-site audits.
  • Analytical skills during on-site audits, determining the degree of compliance of the manufacturer\'s quality management system to applicable standards.
  • On-site audits are condensed activities requiring focus, perceptiveness and decisiveness.
Travel
  • Extensive travel is required to locations, primarily but not limited to North America, Canada, and Mexico.
  • Duration of time away per audit trip is usually one week.
  • Valid Driver\'s License.
  • Computer literate (Word, Excel, Windows).
