Job summary

Scott & Associates, PC, a well-established debt recovery firm, seeks an attorney to join our Pasadena, CA team. You will manage state-specific civil litigation workflows, conduct discovery, prepare and file documents, and negotiate settlements.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of civil litigation experience, strong leadership, and excellent analytical skills. We offer salary plus commission, training, and autonomous caseload management.

Qualifications

  • Active law license in California.
  • 5–7 years of civil litigation experience; debt collection preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven case analysis ability and settlement skills.
  • Ability to teach, train, coach and mentor.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong research skills and online searching ability.
  • Excellent written and oral communication.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage state-specific litigation workflows and forms.
  • Conduct document review and discovery.
  • Execute documents requiring the Attorney’s signature.
  • Communicate with Managing Attorney and clients about case details.
  • Assist in responding to client audits’ litigation components.
  • Monitor rules, statutes, and case law.
  • Conduct research and analyze legal problems.
  • Assess probable outcomes using precedents.
  • Prepare and file legal documents.
  • Manage and resolve collection litigation.
  • Work with Pro Se litigants and opposing counsel to settle files.
  • Interact with outside collections and defense counsel.
  • Support corporate compliance with debt collection laws.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage state-specific litigation workflows and litigation forms.
  • Conduct document review and discovery.
  • Execute documents requiring the Attorney’s signature.
  • Communicate with the Managing Attorney and clients to discuss details of cases
  • Assist in responding to litigation-specific components of all client audits
  • Monitor relevant legal rules, regulations, statutes, and case law
  • Conduct research and analysis of legal problems
  • Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents
  • Prepare and file legal documents
  • Manage and resolve collection litigation
  • Work with Pro Se litigants, opposing counsel, or other interested parties to settle files throughout the litigation process
  • Oversee and interact with outside collections and defense counsel
  • Support corporate compliance with laws and regulations governing debt collection and related activities
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active law license in the listed state of reference. (California)
  • 5-7 years of civil litigation experience; debt collection experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role
  • Demonstrated case analysis ability and a track record of proven settlement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, train, coach, and mentor
  • Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in internet and online research
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, printer, scanner, and computer
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Excellent organizational skills with an eye for details
  • Ability to be flexible to adapt and act quickly when urgent matters require it
  • Ability to work and maintain patience with diversified individuals of various ethnic backgrounds and professional competencies
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to represent the company in various forums to foster the desires and image of the company in the community
