Description

PURPOSE:

  • Oversee day to day operation of Attended Donation Center, while accepting donations from the public and processing donations.
  • Give guidance and instruction to other Processors as directed by Store Manager/Assistant Manager.
  • Price, ticket and coordinate processing of clothing/wares to maintain adequate production quotas, maintain the flow of goods based on volume of donations.
  • Operate forklift competently and safely.
  • Monitor Production, quality and pricing of processing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee Donation Center and Attendants.
  • Accept donations from the general public.
  • Treat all donors and all donations with respect.
  • Assist every donor in the unloading of donated items from donor’s vehicles.
  • Offer every donor a donation tax receipt and sign all receipts acknowledging acceptance of donations.
  • Thank every donor for their donation.
  • Dress appropriately in accordance with Goodwill dress code.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the Goodwill Mission.
  • Demonstrate effective communication of the Goodwill Mission to donor either verbally or through Mission related literature or messaging.
  • Maintains interior and exterior of the ADC assuring cleanliness, neatness, and orderliness throughout the day.
  • Maintain safe conditions for donors and staff and perform proper fire safety procedures. Promptly report any accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • In the winter, assure that donor access is kept clear of snow and ice.
  • Store donations in such a way that all available ADC/trailer space is utilized, while stacking in a safe and orderly manner. All loose donations must be packed into bags or boxes.
  • All donations left outside in the off hours should be immediately placed inside.
  • Work at a pace which insures no backup or overflow of donations to exterior of ADC.
  • Maintain accurate record of total daily donors.
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of Goodwill trucks.
  • Cross train in other areas as needed.
  • Attendants will have the right with discretion, to politely refuse any donation that does not meet Goodwill’s standards, i.e. furniture, large appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washers and dryers.
  • Supply product for production.
  • Price and ticket product, separate, package, and inventory wares, and supply processed shoes to assure production quotas and deadlines are met.
  • Quality and material control.
  • Must be able to work with people with all abilities.
  • Recognize use, style, value, saleable, salvage, trash and seasonal.
  • Maintain quota based on volume of donations.
  • Price and tag/ticket merchandise.
  • Bag and/or box salvage merchandise (shoes, books, belts, etc.)
  • Mark everything that will leave the building CLEARLY.
  • Direct obvious trash from box or pile.
  • Maintains Attended Donation Center; cleanliness, neatness, orderliness, proper display, safe conditions for customers and staff and performing proper fire safety procedures.
  • Box items to be shipped.
  • Do seasonal items as they come in and box for storage.
  • Clean when necessary.
  • Help truck driver and co-workers loading/unloading Goodwill truck.
  • Cross train in other areas as needed.
  • Operate forklift as instructed in a safe manner as needed.
  • Load and unload trucks, pallets and bales as needed.
  • Complete Daily Checklist for the forklift.
  • Quality and material control.
  • General housekeeping and safety.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; push or pull.
  • Must be able to regularly stoop, bend, reach turn and twist body and lift and carry up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Other related duties as directed by the Assistant Manager/Manager.
  • Must be able to occasionally, kneel, squat, and climb.
  • Operate forklift to load and unload trucks and bales as needed to assure production quotas and deadlines are met.
  • Work performed is within acceptable quality standards.
  • General housekeeping and safety.
  • Performs other related activities as directed by Assistant Manager/Manager.
  • Performs production activities assigned by Assistant Manager/Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Follow the policies, procedures and special instructions set down by the President and C.E.O. of Goodwill Industries, Vice President of Retail Operations, Vice-President of Donation Procurement/Development, Senior Sales Manager and Store Manager/Assistant Manager.
  • Investigates and reports unsatisfactory conditions in the location to the Store Manager/Assistant Manager and/or Senior Sales Manager and/or Vice-President of Donation Procurement/Development and/or Vice President of Retail Operations. Being sure to follow the Chain of Command.
  • Reports customer complaints to the Store Manager/Assistant Manager and/or Senior Sales Manager and/or Vice-President of Donation Procurement/Development and/or Vice President of Retail Operations. Being sure to follow the Chain of Command.

RELATIONS:

Establish and maintain relations with the following:

  • Store Manager/Assistant Manager, Senior Manager and/or Vice-President of Donation Procurement/Development and/or Vice President of Retail Operations and/or President and C.E.O. of Goodwill Industries.
  • Other workers in organization, assist in work, perform production activities and related work.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred, but on-the-job training is provided.
  • Minimum of six months’ prior supervisory experience required.
  • Must have good work habits, such as acceptable attitude and punctuality.
  • Must respond appropriately to supervision.
  • Must possess adequate physical endurance to work at industrial standards.
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 25 pounds unassisted and up to 50 pounds assisted.
  • Must be able to pass Forklift Certification.
  • Must be able to complete paperwork as required.
  • Must have good work habits, such as acceptable attitude and punctuality.
  • Must respond appropriately to supervision.
  • Must possess adequate physical endurance to work at industrial standards.
