Job summary

JPI is seeking a Lead Assistant Superintendent to support the Superintendent in overseeing field construction across multifamily projects. You will coordinate subcontractors, monitor safety, schedule, and quality, and ensure inspections and documentation are completed daily.

The role requires substantial multi-family construction experience and leadership abilities. Responsibilities include overseeing safety programs, SWPPP compliance, scheduling with the Superintendent, and driving project

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction or related field preferred.
  • 6–10 years of construction experience preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of construction with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum 5 years in multi-family construction; 150+ unit projects highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with multifamily construction procedures and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety management on the project and maintain safety scores above 95 on a quarterly basis.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractor work across all trades (framing, roofing, concrete, etc.).
  • Develop and monitor project schedules with the Superintendent; track progress and milestones.
  • Ensure quality control, site inspections, and documentation in Procore daily.
  • Generate and respond to RFIs; lead weekly subcontractor safety and production meetings.
  • Close out projects and ensure proper documentation and handover.

About the Job

The role of the Lead Assistant Superintendent is to provide support to the Superintendent by overseeing the field construction process. The Lead Assistant Superintendent will coordinate subcontractor work in all areas, including framing, roofing, concrete, sheetrock, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, masonry/plaster and landscaping as assigned by the Superintendent.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities


  • Act as a representative and advocate of JPI's Culture and Guiding Principles.

  • Oversee the management of safety of the project, ensuring that all safety measures are implemented daily. All safety scores should be above a 95 average per quarter.

  • Oversee the management of the SWPPP program, ensuring that all SWPPP procedures are followed daily.

  • Oversee all field operations, monitoring the quality of the workmanship and materials on the project.

  • Ensure all personnel are scheduling city inspections, 3rdparty inspections and following and documenting JPI internal quality control measures.

  • Ensure that all project goals are met.

  • Schedule with Superintendent all subcontractor work, including mobilization and deliveries.

  • Actively create schedules along with Superintendent, ensuring all project goals are being met.

  • Assist in minimizing cost to the project.

  • Generate all schedules assigned by the Superintendent in written form.

  • Ensure all photo documentation is being taken, labeled, and recorded into Procore daily by team members.

  • Create, monitor and retrieve responses to RFI's.

  • Conduct subcontractor weekly safety and production meetings.

  • Supervise and delegate work to the positions of AssistantSuperintendent, Punch Carpenters and Laborers ensuring that safety, SWPPP, Production and Quality standards are being met.

  • Serve as the Superintendent whenever the Superintendent is not available.

  • Closeout Projects


Non-essential Functions & Responsibilities


  • Assist in the resolution of on-site subcontractor issues. All safety, SWPPP, Quality and Production issues with subcontractors are under your management to begin generating a resolution.

  • Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.


Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements


  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in construction or related field is preferred.

  • 6-10 years of experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 6 years of construction experience with at least two years of supervisory experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years multi-family construction experience required.

  • 150+ unit multifamily construction experience highly preferred

  • Must be familiar with multifamily construction procedures.


General Base Pay Range

Please note that the posted annual base pay range reflects the anticipated compensation range for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation offered will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity with existing associates, and the Company’s budget at the time of the offer. This range applies to base salary only. Additional compensation, such as bonuses or incentive plans, may be available and will be discussed with the Recruiter during the interview process.


Annual Base Pay Range: $115,000 - $160,000
