Job summary

Actalent in Washington, DC seeks an experienced Architectural Designer / Project Architect to lead design, coordination, and delivery of multi-family and mixed-use projects from concept through construction.

The role requires a licensed architect with strong leadership, BIM coordination, and client-facing skills to ensure on-time, on-budget project outcomes while upholding design quality and technical rigor.

Qualifications

• Licensed Architect required.
• Accredited professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).
• Proven experience leading multiple projects through all design phases including construction administration.
• Ability to lead collaborative teams in a fast-paced, design-driven environment.
• Client-facing personality.
• Experience with zoning permits, QA, and QC.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects through all phases of design: conceptual to construction administration.
• Collaborate with internal design teams to produce high-quality design solutions.
• Guide iterative design workflows from concept to presentation-ready deliverables.
• Oversee documentation, BIM coordination, and drawing production for multiple projects.
• Ensure QA/QC and office standards compliance.
• Lead zoning and code analysis and respond to plan review comments.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams (structural, MEP, civil).
• Manage technical detailing and material assemblies across disciplines.
• Oversee production schedules and milestone deliverables.
• Serve as primary client contact and manage communications and deliverables.
• Support proposal development, fee planning, and staffing for construction administration.
