There is a greater emphasis on Python skills in addition to Angular.

We are seeking an experienced Python Full Stack Architect with strong expertise in Python, FasAPI, Microservices, and Angular. The ideal candidate will provide architecture and technical leadership for scalable enterprise applications, with Angular as a key skill.

Role Overview

Seeking a Lead Architect to support the customer’s Study Design Hub, an enterprise product ecosystem that enables scientists and clinical-development teams to ideate, author, evaluate and refine clinical study designs.

The platform combines structured study-design authoring, scenario management, coherence and compliance capabilities, analytical experiences, AI-assisted workflows, and integrations with customer’s broader clinical technology landscape. The Lead Architect will provide end-to-end architectural leadership across a modern Angular frontend, Python services, data and integration layers, cloud infrastructure, and agentic/AI capabilities. The role requires an architect who remains technically close to implementation, can work effectively with Product Owners and clinical SMEs, and can guide multiple engineering teams without becoming a central delivery bottleneck. This is an established, evolving product. The successful candidate will be expected to understand and extend the current platform, preserve delivery continuity, and guide evidence-based architectural evolution.

Key Responsibilities

Product and solution architecture

• Own the end-to-end architecture across frontend, backend, data, integration, cloud and AI capabilities
• Translate clinical-study-design workflows and product objectives into coherent technical capabilities
• Define and evolve domain, module, service, data and integration boundaries
• Ensure that independently delivered product elements operate as a consistent, connected platform
• Partner with Product Owner and clinical SMEs to clarify requirements, challenge assumptions and assess technical feasibility
• Guide architecture through working increments, technical spikes and thin vertical slices

Frontend and application architecture

• Guide the architecture of modern Angular applications and modular product experiences
• Establish patterns for components, services, state ownership, routing, reactive forms and API integration
• Support metadata-driven and dynamic user experiences, including complex conditional forms and validation
• Guide the use of shared design-system components and reusable frontend libraries
• Address frontend performance, accessibility, maintainability, testability and observability
• Evaluate build-versus-buy and library-selection decisions using explicit technical and product criteria

Backend, API and integration architecture

• Define Python service and API patterns using FastAPI or comparable frameworks
• Design synchronous and asynchronous workflows, including long-running operations and orchestration of multiple downstream APIs
• Define reliable service contracts, error handling, idempotency, retry, timeout and failure-recovery patternsGuide SQL and ORM usage, transaction boundaries, data ownership and persistence strategies
• Design secure and maintainable integrations with enterprise and clinical systems

Data, auditability and compliance architecture

• Define data models for structured study-design content, versions, relationships and lifecycle states
• Design traceability from source content through transformations, rules, AI outputs and user decisions
• Establish appropriate versioning, change history and immutable audit records
• Ensure that security, access control, data integrity and retention expectations are addressed
• Support validation-aware delivery and alignment with applicable GxP, data-integrity and computer-system-validation expectations

AI and agentic architecture

• Architect agentic and AI-assisted capabilities over clinical and study-design data
• Define appropriate use of deterministic rules, retrieval, generative models and workflow orchestration
• Design agent state, memory, routing, human-review and failure-recovery patterns
• Guide RAG, grounding, vector-search and knowledge-representation approaches
• Establish prompt, rule, model and configuration versioning
• Define evaluation, regression testing, observability, drift monitoring and model-change controls
• Ensure that clinically meaningful AI outputs are explainable, traceable and subject to appropriate human review

Engineering leadership

• Guide Technical Leads and engineering pods through architectural decisions and implementation trade-offs
• Create practical reference patterns, ADRs, reusable examples and automated guardrails
• Review consequential designs and code while preserving team autonomy
• Identify, classify and prioritize technical debt according to product and operational impact
• Lead architecture discussions with Customer and Zifo product, engineering, platform, security and quality stakeholders
• Mentor engineers and Technical Leads and promote knowledge distribution across teams

Production and operational architecture

• Define non-functional expectations for performance, concurrency, security, reliability, resilience and supportability
• Ensure appropriate logging, metrics, distributed tracing and operational diagnostics
• Guide architecture changes after production release using incremental migration, backward compatibility and rollback planning
• Use production evidence, incidents and delivery metrics to evolve the architecture
• Partner with DevSecOps and QA teams to embed quality and security controls into delivery pipelines

Required Experience and Capabilities

Architecture and product engineering

• 10+ years of experience in software or product engineering, including significant architecture and technical leadership responsibilities
• Demonstrated ownership of architecture for a complex enterprise product or platform delivered to production
• Ability to move between product context, architecture, data design, APIs and implementation detail
• Experience guiding multiple engineering teams or workstreams
• Strong understanding of modular architecture, service boundaries, integration patterns and evolutionary architecture
• Experience making architectural changes to an existing production system

Modern Angular

• Recent hands-on or deeply embedded architectural experience with modern Angular and TypeScript
• Strong understanding of Angular components, services, dependency injection, routing, RxJS and Reactive Forms
• Experience with complex conditional validation, dynamic or schema-driven forms, and reusable component design
• Understanding of Angular testing, performance, state management and maintainability
• Ability to review Angular designs and code and guide senior frontend engineers credibly

Python and APIs

• Strong experience designing and developing Python-based APIs or services
• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, Django or a comparable Python web framework
• Understanding of Pydantic or equivalent contract-validation approaches
• Experience with asynchronous execution, long-running processes and downstream API orchestration
• Strong understanding of API design, error handling, idempotency, security and testing
• Experience with SQL, relational databases and ORM patterns

Cloud and platform engineering

• Experience architecting and operating cloud-hosted applications, preferably on AWS
• Understanding of containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code and CI/CD
• Experience addressing security, scalability, observability, availability and operational support
• Ability to collaborate effectively with DevSecOps and platform-engineering teams

Production engineering

• Experience supporting production releases and operational systems
• Ability to describe a production issue or architectural limitations and the resulting design change
• Experience with incremental migration, compatibility, testing, release planning and rollback
