Job summary

HGA is seeking a licensed Architect II in San Jose, CA to lead design and technical efforts across multiple project phases. The role emphasizes client engagement, team leadership, and coordination with consultants to deliver high-quality documentation and cohesive design solutions.

The candidate will mentor junior staff, advance BIM workflows, and contribute to project strategy while collaborating with Project Managers and Principals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
  • 7–10 years of professional experience including work on small to large-scale projects.
  • Licensed architect.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with BIM workflows and project management tools (e.g., VantagePoint).

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and technical efforts across multiple project phases and scales, contributing to project strategy, client engagement, and team leadership.
  • Manage complex tasks independently, coordinate with consultants, and support project delivery through high-quality documentation and thoughtful design solutions.
  • Serve as a key contributor to project success—mentoring junior staff, guiding design development, and collaborating with Project Managers and Principals.
  • Design & Documentation: lead development of architectural drawings, details, and design concepts; oversee production of construction documents.
  • Project Coordination: manage substantial portions of project scope, schedule, and deliverables; lead coordination with consultants and internal teams.
  • Communication & Collaboration: facilitate design meetings and client presentations; mentor staff; foster a collaborative team culture.
