Overview

Our energy/utility client is establishing a new Google Cloud foundation to support enterprise-scale data, analytics, and emerging agentic AI capabilities. We are seeking a senior, hands-on Lead Architect to serve as the first technical leader on this initiative.

This role is critical to defining the initial cloud and data architecture, establishing best practices, and working closely with senior stakeholders to shape our energy/utility client’s broader Google Cloud adoption strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) foundational architecture, with a primary focus on BigQuery.
• Define reference architectures, data patterns, and best practices for scalable, secure, and governed data platforms.
• Establish ingestion, transformation, and analytics patterns aligned to enterprise data needs.
• Ensure alignment with security, compliance, and enterprise IT standards.

Agentic AI & Advanced Analytics Enablement

• Architect and support agentic and generative AI capabilities using Vertex AI.
• Define integration patterns between AI services and data platforms.
• Enable experimentation and production-grade AI workflows.

Stakeholder Engagement & Technical Leadership

• Act as the primary technical authority for Google Cloud.
• Engage senior business and technology stakeholders.
• Provide architectural guidance and mentorship.

Foundation & Enablement

• Establish architectural standards and documentation.
• Support early delivery while enabling long-term platform sustainability.

Required Qualifications

Technical Expertise

• 10+ years of experience in cloud and data architecture.
• Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery.
• Hands-on experience with Vertex AI or AI/ML platforms.
• Strong understanding of data governance and enterprise architecture.

Leadership & Communication

• Experience leading greenfield or foundational initiatives.
• Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience in utilities or regulated industries.
• Familiarity with agentic AI patterns.
• Onsite client-facing experience.

Pay

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $120,000 - $180,000. In addition, for the current performance period, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.

As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms.The Company provides for 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a "free time" PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take time needed for either sick time or vacation.
