Job summary

Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting seeks a Lead Application & Product Architect for Tax, to drive architecture across event-driven and workflow-based designs, leveraging Temporal and Kafka. You will oversee modernization, ensure architectural governance, and guide senior engineers while reporting to the Principal Architect.

You will partner with security and platform teams, own ADRs, and lead design reviews to raise quality and delivery velocity in a hybrid work model from a local office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in architecture for SaaS products.
• Strong hands-on depth with .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core, API design) and performance profiling.
• Proven delivery of modernization programs (monolith to microservices, API first, cloud native).
• Practical experience with Kafka (Confluent) and Temporal for long-running orchestrations.
• Fluency with VS Code and GitHub Copilot to accelerate POCs, scaffolding, and code reviews.
• Expertise in architecture qualities (availability, scalability, security, resilience, cost) and observability.
• Excellent written & verbal communication for leadership alignment.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive product and platform architecture for Tax services with event-driven and workflow designs (Temporal) and streaming (Kafka).
• Review and guide .NET application code and solution designs to elevate quality, security, and performance.
• Own high-risk technical spikes and POCs to accelerate engineering feedback loops.
• Provide ADRs and architectural documentation; lead design reviews per Architecture CoE policies.
• Lead modernization efforts (modularization, API-first, cloud-native) and onboarding to Confluent Cloud; set performance/testing standards.
