Job summary

The Archaeological Field Director at Eocene Environmental Group will oversee field work across multiple sites in California, manage small field crews, and ensure all investigations meet client standards.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor’s degree in archaeology or anthropology, field school experience, and the ability to obtain agency permitting. Strong writing, QA/QC, and GIS skills are essential for delivering accurate reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in archaeology/anthropology required; field school completed.
  • Minimum 2 years field experience in California or Oregon.
  • Meets SOI PQS in archaeology or history depending on degree.
  • Ability to oversee large field efforts; read/write/speak English clearly.
  • Permitted or permittable on agency lands (BLM, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee field studies, surveys, monitoring, and DPR forms with QA/QC.
  • Manage field crews and coordinate with construction teams.
  • Prepare complex site documentation and reports for clients.
  • Maintain safety and compliance with laws and policies.
  • Train field personnel and ensure data completeness.
