We are seeking Lead Application Support / Production Support Engineers to support and maintain business-critical enterprise applications in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidates will have strong expertise in Java-based applications, production support processes, incident management, and application troubleshooting.

This role requires professionals who can effectively manage major production incidents, perform root cause analysis, drive issue resolution, and ensure high availability and reliability of applications. We are also open to strong Java/Spring Boot Developers who are interested in transitioning into or expanding their responsibilities within Application Production Support.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $90k - $100k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Provide L2/L3 production support for mission-critical applications and services.
  • Monitor application health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure platform stability.
  • Lead major incident management activities and coordinate resolution across multiple technology teams.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to avoid recurring issues.
  • Support and troubleshoot Java/Spring Boot-based microservices applications.
  • Investigate and resolve REST API-related issues, performance bottlenecks, and integration failures.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Kafka messaging systems and event-driven application flows.
  • Analyze application logs and production issues using Splunk and monitoring tools.
  • Work closely with development, infrastructure, database, and business teams to resolve production concerns.
  • Support Oracle and MongoDB databases, including query tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in release validations, deployment support, and post-production verification activities.
  • Create operational documentation, support runbooks, and knowledge-sharing materials.
  • Mentor junior support engineers and provide technical leadership during critical incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise support standards, SLAs, and operational best practices.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in Application Support, Production Support, or Site Reliability Engineering roles.

Monitoring & Observability

  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Splunk
  • Application Monitoring Tools

Leadership & Communication

  • Ability to lead major incident response activities.
  • Experience mentoring and guiding support engineers.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business users, and executive stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:
