Job summary

Northwood Space is seeking a Lead Hardware Development Engineer to steer antenna-system development from concept through deployment within a fast-moving space infrastructure program. You will own multidisciplinary hardware programs, drive system-level design decisions, coordinate across mechanical, RF, electronics, embedded software, and manufacturing, and mentor the team toward field-ready solutions.

The role requires hands-on hardware experience, architecture leadership, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical engineering field.
• 3+ years experience in hardware or antenna system development.
• Deep expertise in at least one discipline (mechanical, electrical, RF, embedded, or systems integration).
• Experience owning a hardware product through design and delivery.
• Strong systems-thinking and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Hands-on experience building and testing hardware systems.
• Excellent communication and leadership across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the development and deployment of a Northwood antenna system from concept to deployment.
• Translate needs into system requirements, architectures, interfaces, and verification plans.
• Coordinate across mechanical, electrical, RF, antenna, embedded software, and manufacturing.
• Build development schedules, milestones, and risk mitigation plans.
• Lead system-level trade studies on performance, design, power, thermal, and cost.
• Drive prototype builds, integration, testing, and production-readiness reviews.
• Contribute to design, analysis, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Report progress, risks, decisions, and resources to engineering leadership.
