Job summary

The University of Kansas Medical Center is seeking a Husbandry Supervisor - LAR to oversee daily animal husbandry operations and supervising Animal Science Workers and Certified Animal Specialists. The role collaborates with internal and external stakeholders and may include veterinary coordination.

Responsibilities include supervising routines, training staff, ensuring SOP compliance, and improving work processes.

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in biological sciences, agricultural sciences, or animal science; education may substitute for experience.
• Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, agricultural sciences, or animal science is required.
• ALAT certification and LATG certification are required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operation of husbandry and housekeeping duties in the animal facility.
• Ensure animal husbandry responsibilities and handling techniques are performed.
• Conduct periodic meetings with husbandry team and report to manager.
• Coordinate supply delivery and disinfectant schedules; update SOPs as needed.
• Train new LAR employees and provide biotechnical assistance.
• Maintain/record SOP compliance and health and safety procedures.
