Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Lead Angular Developer to drive frontend architecture for next-generation, tablet-first applications used in autonomous systems. You will lead teams, design Angular/Ionic-based solutions, and deliver real-time UIs with low latency on tablets and mobile.

Work with product, UX, backend, and AI teams to integrate live data, AI outputs, and simulations. You will champion automated testing, CI/CD, and observability, and mentor engineers across multiple squads in Chicago, IL.

Qualifications

• Experience in frontend architecture and leading engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on with Angular, RxJS and state management (NgRx).
• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend patterns.
• Experience building hybrid mobile apps with Ionic/Capacitor.
• Experience integrating real-time data systems and cloud platforms.
• Hands-on with AI coding assistants in production delivery and AI-assisted workflows.

Responsibilities

• Define frontend architecture across teams, including UI frameworks and state management.
• Design tablet-first applications using Angular and Ionic/Capacitor for mobile and console-like environments.
• Build interactive real-time interfaces visualizing autonomous systems with live data and AI outputs.
• Drive performance optimization for low-latency behavior on tablets and mobile.
• Establish engineering standards, reusable components, and long-term scalability.
• Lead design reviews, guide implementation, and mentor engineers across teams.
• Collaborate with product, UX, backend, and AI/robotics teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Ensure quality through automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and observability.
