Job summary

FinOps Weekly is seeking a Lead Analyst to drive cloud cost governance, data-driven decision support, and rightsizing automation across our cloud estates. You will deliver routine and ad hoc reporting, ensure accurate data ingestion, and partner with Cloud Architects and IT Finance to optimise spend and policy compliance.

You will lead initiatives to forecast budgets, set cost targets, and implement workload optimisations in collaboration with multiple business units and external providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• At least two years of experience in Cloud Cost Management, FinOps, cloud engineering, or cloud architecture.
• Experience with cloud policy, governance, and cost awareness.
• Strong data analysis and visualization skills using Power BI.
• Experience with cloud cost management tools and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Produce routine and ad hoc cloud consumption reports, including usage insights and anomaly detection.
• Validate data ingestion from multiple sources.
• Support cloud consumption estimates, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Help establish cost optimisation targets and report progress.
• Recommend workload and rate optimisation opportunities and track implementation.
• Partner with Cloud Architects to identify architecture optimisation opportunities.
• Manage the cloud cost management tool and coordinate enhancements with its providers.
• Contribute to monthly engagement and governance meetings with Local Business Units.
• Maintain 100% compliance with mandatory cloud tagging requirements.
• Support the IT Finance team with monthly cloud cost chargeback.
• Promote FinOps best practices and continuous improvement.
• Simplify and automate processes, including reporting and rightsizing automation.
• Coordinate with external cloud and managed service providers to resolve issues promptly.

Lead Analyst, Cloud Optimisation & Governance (FinOps)

About the Role

The Lead Analyst will help manage the organisation’s cloud consumption efficiently by providing accurate data, reporting, and analysis for informed decision-making. The role will recommend usage and rate optimisation opportunities, support compliance with cloud policy and FinOps practices, and improve processes through reporting and rightsizing automation. Working within the Group Cloud & Infrastructure Function, the role will collaborate with Cloud Architects, IT Finance, Local Business Units, public cloud providers, cloud cost management vendors, and managed service providers. It will also serve as the primary contact for cloud consumption matters and contribute to improved cost visibility, governance, and optimisation.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• At least two years of relevant experience in Cloud Cost Management, FinOps, cloud engineering, or cloud architecture.
• Understanding of cloud policy and governance, cloud architecture, workload onboarding, and cloud usage and costs.
• Experience with complex data analysis and data visualisation tools, such as Power BI.
• Experience managing cloud cost management or FinOps tools.
• Cloud-related professional certification, such as Azure, AWS, or FinOps certification.
• Understanding of finance principles and processes, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and cost optimisation.
• Experience working in a regulated industry and within a regional or multinational organisation.
• Ability to demonstrate independent leadership, judgement, and decision-making.
• Ability to manage multiple changing priorities with flexibility.
• Ability to build cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders at peer level.
• Commercial acumen and understanding of cloud consumption-based constructs.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to understand business context, advise stakeholders, and present solutions clearly.
