Job summary

Airbus Americas, Inc. is seeking a Lead Aircraft Structures Assembler to join our Mobile, AL team. The role involves leading structural assemblies of metallic/composite components per drawings and standards, supervising a station, and ensuring quality and safety compliance on the line.

You will work on the Interiors Station, coordinating with supervisors, and driving LEAN improvements while maintaining production flow and reporting KPIs. This position is on-site with competitive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews production schedule and assigns work to facilitate task completion and aircraft movement.
  • Establishes an orderly flow of work and maintains records.
  • Monitors KPIs and stock levels; liaises with Quality to ensure line quality.
  • Supports LEAN initiatives and cross-functional coordination.

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Lead Aircraft Structures Assembler to join their team based in Mobile, AL.to perform and assure structural assemblies of metallic and/or composite components (including hybrid stacks) following drawing requirements and applicable standards

Position Summary

Assists the Interiors Station Supervisor in providing an orderly flow of task according to the schedule. Achieves this by assigning work, securing materials and tools, reporting and monitoring production quality and output. Activities are limited to a specific function or area

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assumes all routine Station responsibilities of the group manager/supervisor in the manager's or Supervisor's absence.
  • Troubleshoots Station issues and secures necessary assistance to resolve them.
  • Reviews production schedule and assigns work to facilitate completion of tasks and Aircraft movement in accordance with established schedule
  • Establishes an orderly flow of work.
  • Keeps station performance records and monitors for accuracy of reporting, such as, work orders, SOI, KPIs.
  • Maintains level of supplies in selected areas.
  • In conjunction with Quality monitors line quality and notify personnel of deviations.
  • Assists managers in performance reviews, recommends disciplinary action, promotion, etc.
  • Is an advocate for LEAN within the group; encourages LEAN thinking and supports and assists in the implementation of LEAN initiatives/KAIZENS.
  • May be responsible for coordinating activities with contractors.
  • May fill in for absent operators as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualified Experience and Training
Required Education
  • A mandatory knowledge of processes being used in the area of responsibility.
  • Strong and strict application of the FOD and Tool Control specification.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Quality and Safety specifically applied to Interiors Station activities.
  • Requires ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form with internal and external customers.
Required Experience
  • Qualified for Station, FPS and other support equipment required on the station.
  • Must be able to use Google Suite, HMS, MES, and iObeya.
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years aviation experience
  • Must have Interiors Station specific training, or demonstrate an ability to adapt, learn and lead
Physical Requirements

Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.

Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.

Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.

Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.

Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.

Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.

Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.

Walking: (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
