Job summary

Lane Community College’s Aviation Academy seeks a Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician to guide maintenance, inspection, and repair of the training fleet (Cessna 152, Piper PA‑28, PA‑44). You will ensure airworthiness, sign off FAA‑required work, and manage a maintenance team within a Part 141 environment.

The role includes overseeing parts, records, and coordination with instructors and administrators, with flexible hours to support students. Permanent, full‑time position in Oregon.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of documented industry employment as a full‑time general aviation aircraft mechanic on Cessna 152, Piper PA‑28, and PA‑44 series aircraft.
  • One year of documented work as an authorized inspector or shop foreman in an FAA repair station or as an FAA Maintenance Inspector.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate with Inspection Authority.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an airport security badge.
  • Completion of annual TSA Security Awareness Training and a criminal background check.
  • Must reside in the state of Oregon.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance, inspection, and repair of training fleet to ensure airworthiness.
  • Oversee and arrange service, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
  • Sign off work per FAA regulations and maintain records in a Part 141 school.
  • Lead, train, and prioritize tasks for mechanics (part‑time or full‑time).
  • Order parts, track inventory, and manage labor records monthly.
  • Collaborate with leadership on fleet decisions and staffing.
  • Educate instructors and students on best practices for aircraft use and care.
