Job Summary

The Lead Aircraft Cleaner oversees the performance of the cleaning crew and ensures the timely and satisfactory completion of work assignments in accordance with company policies. This role involves managing overall team performance, maintaining security procedures, and reporting breaches or suspicious activities. Leads do not have authority to discipline or discharge employees. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities
  1. Equip airplane cabins with supplies such as rugs, linens, and blankets, following check list specifications, and carry supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. onboard aircraft.
  2. Check, clean, sort, and store equipment, and assemble kits, utilizing cognitive skills.
  3. Operate vacuum cleaners and similar mechanized cleaning tools.
  4. Verify deliveries against requisitions to identify discrepancies.
  5. Demonstrate proper work methods, conduct on-the-job training, lead crew meetings, and instruct employees on operational procedures. Schedule and monitor work, analyze methods and results, and report problems to management.
  6. Judge distances accurately.
  7. Report to work regularly and punctually.
  8. Possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  9. Be at least 18 years old and able to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days.
  10. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement with the Transport Workers Union (TWU), requiring union membership and dues payment.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
  • Perform duties in variable weather and environmental conditions, including jet fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and noise.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs., reaching, bending, and twisting in confined spaces to clean aircraft interiors with cleaning fluids and materials.
