Job summary

CVR Energy in Wynnewood, OK seeks a senior environmental engineer to lead air regulatory compliance for the refinery, maintaining air permits, advising on improvements, and supporting water and waste programs. The role will prepare training and ensure documentation accuracy, with coverage for the Environmental Manager as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years refining or chemical industry experience.
• 6+ years environmental regulatory experience including air.
• 2+ year supervisor experience; manage engineers/contractors.
• Fluent in English with strong written and presentation communication.
• Understanding of P&ID and PFD.
• Ability to adapt work schedule to meet changing requirements.
• High computer literacy: Word, graphics, spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Track refinery environmental performance day-to-day as environmental engineer for refinery.
• Lead team responsible for environmental monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports (NSPS/MACT, Air Emissions Inventory) and timely completion.
• Respond to regulatory inquiries for assigned programs.
• Stay current with new and emerging environmental regulations.
• Support environmental data assurance projects and quality alerts.
• Complete environmental KPI dashboarding for real-time compliance performance.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities for EPA and ODEQ compliance.
• Ensure flare operations monitored, CEMS tracked, and emissions testing conducted timely.
• Participate in regulatory inspections, audits, and reviews.
• Provide review and oversight for agency communications and reports.
• Manage time/resources to meet deadlines; prioritize tasks.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis program and trainings.
