Job summary

Humana is seeking an experienced AI product leader to define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a complex AI product area. You will partner with business units to translate problems into AI use cases, build prototypes, and map ROI and success metrics from concept to production.

You will own the backlog, guide cross-functional teams, and collaborate with engineering, data science, design, and governance bodies to deliver AI products end-to-end.

Job description

• Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a complex AI product area


• Partner with business units to map operations and translate business problems into AI use cases, business cases, and ROI justifications


• Build working AI prototypes and demos using agentic coding and AI tools


• Convert validated use cases into requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and success metrics


• Shape the end-to-end user experience with design


• Drive AI products from prototype to production, owning the backlog, sequencing work, making tradeoffs, unblocking teams, and supporting launch and iteration


• Define and measure quality using golden sets, ground truth, offline and live evaluations, and metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, F1, task success, and hallucination rate


• Support architecture and feasibility discussions with engineering


• Own prompt engineering and skill creation components of the AI harness


• Lead engineers, data scientists, designers, and business partners without direct authority


• Author reusable playbooks, skills, and solution patterns


• Move solutions through Humana’s enterprise AI governance process, including AIRB, LRC, Responsible AI Council, documentation, scorecards, and stage-gate reviews


• Communicate strategy, requirements, roadmap, ROI, and evaluation results to executive and technical audiences


• Mentor product managers


• Track advances in models, agents, evaluations, and emerging techniques and apply them to the portfolio

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience


• 7+ years of product or related experience


• 4+ years of product management experience


• Experience shipping AI/ML or GenAI products to production


• Regular hands‑on use of AI tools and ability to explain desired model behavior and changes


• Ability to prototype ideas independently


• Experience building evaluations, including golden sets, ground truth, offline evaluations, and live evaluations


• Experience using precision- and recall-based metrics for product decisions


• Systems-thinking approach to building infrastructure that prevents recurring problem classes


• Track record developing business cases, ROI models, and roadmaps that inform investment decisions


• Working understanding of modern AI/ML and GenAI, including LLMs, agents, RAG, prompt engineering, and evaluation methodology


• Preferred: experience in healthcare, insurance, or another regulated industry


• Preferred: informed perspective on agentic AI, evaluations, and AI-native product development


• Preferred: hands‑on experience with agent frameworks, GraphRAG, knowledge graphs, reusable skills, or plugins


• Comfort with ambiguity and a fast pace


• Must reside within, or be willing to relocate to, a commutable distance from a listed talent market


• Must comply with Humana’s Enterprise AI Governance Framework and designated stage-gate reviews
