Job summary

Voya Financial in Minneapolis, MN is seeking an AI Principal Engineer (IC Director) to lead the design and delivery of production-grade AI systems with significant business impact. You will own major components within AI platforms, drive engineering practices, and collaborate with product, data, and governance teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

The role requires a strong background in AI/ML, experience deploying models, and mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
Experience delivering production AI/ML systems with model deployment.
Strong programming in Python, TypeScript, or Rust.
Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks, LLMs, data pipelines.
Experience with MLOps and production reliability.
Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, and deployment of complex AI solutions including LLM apps.
Own technical direction for major AI components.
Drive engineering practices for evaluation, testing, monitoring.
Collaborate with product, data, and governance partners.
Define architecture decisions including API design.
Ensure security, privacy, and responsible AI.
Mentor engineers and raise team capability.
