Job summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Lead Software Engineer - AI Coding to drive design, development, and maintenance of AI-enabled software solutions. You will lead a team of engineers across onshore and offshore locations, crafting scalable, secure web applications and ensuring high-quality code in sprint cycles.

The role requires 8+ years in software development, strong AI coding tool expertise, and deep knowledge of Unix, Git, REST APIs, cloud and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in engineering or computer science or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years building custom software solutions with web apps.
• 2+ years as tech lead directing engineering efforts (onshore/offshore).
• Expert with at least one advanced AI coding tool using SDD.
• Expert knowledge of Unix (RHEL/CentOS, Ubuntu).
• Expert knowledge of Git version control.
• Expert knowledge of unit testing frameworks.
• Expert knowledge of Agile/Scrum.
• Expert knowledge of relational databases and SQL performance.
• Experience creating REST APIs and API documentation.
• Experience with cloud platforms and IaC.
• Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with test automation in pipelines.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues; Tier 2 support.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and growth mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Use AI coding tools to generate source code for sprint features.
• Develop test harnesses and quality gates for AI-generated code.
• Perform production deployments as needed.
• Participate in daily standups and scrum ceremonies.
• Provide guidance for junior and offshore engineers.
• Ensure best practices for security, logging, and error handling.
• Lead a team of engineers to achieve sprint goals.
• Drive continuous improvement for software product maturity.
• Evaluate tools and technologies and provide recommendations.
• Support 24x7 on-call rotations during outages.
