Job summary

Target is hiring a Lead Engineer for AI Security to assess, validate, and strengthen security across AI platforms. You will work with product and engineering teams to identify risks, develop security controls, and guide risk-based remediation strategies in a complex enterprise environment.

The role requires deep expertise in AI security, threat modeling, and security governance, with a focus on secure AI deployment and continuous improvement across Target’s security posture.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
• Software developer with proficiency in multiple programming languages.
• 7+ years of hands-on technology experience in cybersecurity.
• LLM security expertise including prompt injection defenses.
• Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 for Large Language Model Applications.
• Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts.
• Experience with security tooling: firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, DLP.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI platform, product, and engineering teams to evaluate the security posture of AI systems across their lifecycle.
• Define and evaluate security assessment methodologies, testing frameworks, and assurance standards for AI technologies.
• Develop and execute security validation strategies for AI systems, including threat modeling and adversarial testing.
• Conduct deep technical reviews of AI products, platforms, and architectures to identify security improvements.
• Partner with engineering to validate secure deployment patterns for AI workloads across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Identify emerging AI-specific threats and communicate business impact.
