Job summary

Oracle Health Data Intelligence seeks a Principal Applied Scientist to design and build production AI systems, with a focus on LLM-powered agents for healthcare and life sciences workflows. You will lead end-to-end development, from problem framing to deployment, collaborating with engineering, product, and clinical teams.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills and production-quality Python code experience.
• Hands-on experience developing LLM or generative AI applications and evaluating outputs.
• Experience designing experiments and performing statistical analysis on AI/machine learning systems.
• Ability to lead ambiguous technical work and collaborate across teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, evaluation, and deployment of LLM-based agents and other AI capabilities for HDI products.
• Build agent workflows that combine reasoning, tool use, information retrieval, and human review.
• Develop production-quality code and collaborate on system design, integration, and monitoring.
• Establish evaluation methods for agent behavior, model outputs, reliability, and safety.
• Apply statistical analysis and traditional ML methods to improve system performance.
• Investigate errors and turn findings into measurable improvements.
• Partner with product, engineering, clinical, data, security, and compliance teams to translate needs into scalable AI solutions.
• Set technical direction for complex projects and mentor scientists and engineers.
• Assess emerging approaches and adopt them when they provide value.
