Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking an expert in agent design, planning, and control to develop autonomous agents that can set, adapt, and execute goals in dynamic environments. You’ll contribute to foundations that make agents reliable and robust for long-horizon tasks.

You will work with the Enterprise AI organization to build reusable AI modules and pipelines, focusing on safe, accountable AI across healthcare platforms. Remote US position with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree plus 4+ years in ML research/engineering or related roles.
• 2+ years leading AI/ML system development.
• PhD in CS/DS/ML or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Architect goal setting and decomposition mechanisms for autonomous agents.
• Design dynamic planning systems and self-refinement loops.
• Collaborate on memory, tool-use and feedback-loop designs for multi-step agent behavior.
• Develop evaluation frameworks aligned with human intent and long-horizon progress.
• Prototype agents interfacing with APIs, MCP servers, search engines, databases and actuators.
