Job summary

Capital Group is seeking an AI Engineer Lead in Southern California to partner with investment professionals and business teams. You will design, build, and operate production generative AI applications, including copilots and agentic workflows, with end-to-end ownership from discovery to deployment.

You will architect retrieval-augmented pipelines, implement guardrails, and ensure security, privacy, and compliance in production systems across the firm.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on production experience building and shipping LLM-powered applications.
• Experience designing end-to-end RAG pipelines and integrating LLM solutions with real systems.
• Strong understanding of system design, APIs, distributed-systems concepts, and cloud-native development.
• Experience implementing security, privacy, and compliance controls in production systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production generative AI applications as reliable, production-grade systems.
• Architect end-to-end retrieval-augmented generation pipelines with embeddings, storage, retrieval, and prompts.
• Build agents and agentic workflows that plan and execute multi-step tasks within auditable boundaries.
• Apply eval-driven development: define criteria, build evals, measure correctness, latency, and hallucination.
• Take end-to-end ownership from discovery to deployment — instrument with observability and cost-tracking.
• Integrate AI solutions with enterprise data systems, APIs, and MLOps tooling.
